Eastman Lake

Monday, June 8th, 2009

From June 5 to June 7 we camped at Eastman Lake — a nice place to dry out after our wet visit to Sequoia National Park. Our relaxing stay at Cordorniz campground was punctuated by several hikes around the lake, and a visit to the Buchanan Dam. As can be seen from the photographs the current water level in the lake is  extremely low. The bird life at the lake is impressive. We got our first look at the Bullock’s Oriole.

Sequoia

From June 2 to June 5 we camped at Lodgepole Campground in Sequoia National Park. The weather was interesting: Rain, Sun, Snow. We hiked to Tokopah Falls, visited the Sherman Grove and walked along the Lakes Trail. On the 5th we awoke to 1.5″ inches of snow. On the way out of the park we stopped at the Grant Grove in King’s Canyon.
